I’m Brandyn, and I’m a coffee addict. This site is about roasting your own coffee at home, and it’s built from what I’ve learned doing exactly that.
Why I started
I started out making pour over coffee. Somewhere along the way I found that roasting your own beans produces the freshest tasting cup you can get. Once I understood that, buying pre-roasted bags stopped making sense to me. Roasting at home puts the freshest possible coffee in your cup, and once you taste the difference, it’s hard to go back.
Who this is for
This site is for anyone thinking about roasting their own coffee at home, or anyone who wants to pick up roasting as a new hobby. You don’t need to already own equipment or know the terminology. If you’re curious about what goes into a roast and why fresh matters, you’re in the right place.
What you’ll find here
The articles here work through the practical side of home roasting: what to look for in green beans, how different roast levels change the flavor in your cup, and what equipment actually makes a difference versus what’s just marketing. I write from the same place you might be reading this from, someone who started with pour over and got curious about what happens before the beans ever reach the filter.
Where to start
If you’re new to roasting, start with the basics of what fresh actually means for coffee and why it matters enough to roast your own. From there, work through the articles in whatever order fits what you’re curious about. If you’re already sold on the idea and just want to get started, look for the posts on equipment and your first roast.
